Finding Pathways towards a Flourishing World

Finding Pathways towards a Flourishing World

After a global business career that culminated in my role as Chairman of Blackstone India, I arrived at a moment of profound reflection. Success had been achieved by conventional measures, yet a fundamental question persisted: What truly matters in life?

That inquiry led me to Harvard, where I spent three years immersed in philosophy, religion, psychology, spirituality, and leadership across more than forty courses. This period of study fundamentally reshaped my understanding of human fulfillment and inspired the creation of the Universal Enlightenment & Flourishing Foundation—an initiative dedicated to integrating wisdom across cultures, civilizations, and the social sciences.

My work centers on a singular mission: translating enduring insights, validated by both science and lived experience, into practical frameworks for navigating the complexities of modern life. This mission has two pillars; Human Flourishing and Religious Literacy

To Flourish Is to Love, Learn, and Play

This mission found its first expression in To Flourish Is to Love, Learn, and Play, published by Forbes Books in December 2025. The book distills years of research into a deceptively simple framework built around three universal human longings—loving, learning, and playing—and demonstrates how intentionally weaving them into daily life cultivates meaning, balance, and well-being, irrespective of our circumstances or endowments. Its recognition as an Amazon bestseller across multiple categories signals something significant: a widespread hunger for clarity and actionable wisdom in how we approach happiness and purpose.

Religious Literacy

My second area of focus addresses one of our era’s most urgent challenges: the polarization that fractures communities and nations. Religious traditions, which should serve as sources of connection, are too often weaponized to emphasize division.
Bridges Across Humanity invites a radical reorientation—from fixating on superficial differences to recognizing shared foundations. I examine 54 universal themes that span faith traditions: compassion, transcendence, justice, the search for meaning. The book argues that understanding these commonalities isn’t merely an academic exercise; it’s essential for reducing conflict and fostering genuine social cohesion. My aim is to move beyond the limited goal of tolerance toward something more powerful: Embracing diversity by  informed understanding. By illuminating the unifying potential of religious wisdom, I hope to help reconnect humanity through the restorative power of faith itself—not as ideology, but as shared human inheritance

Bridging the worlds of executive excellence, spiritual wisdom, and transformative education to help individuals and organizations thrive.

At the age of 62, I spent two years at Harvard studying over 30 courses asking the question “what matters most in life”. After my enlightenment at Harvard,  I was inspired to start a foundation with the goal of sharing my learnings with the world. I have two goals with my foundation

-to enhance Human Flourishing

As I researched this topic by seeking wisdom across continents and centuries I found that a tremendous amount of knowledge is not reaching humanity because it is siloed

across  time, civilizations, geographies, and the academic disciplines of social and physical “sciences. My” attempt is to integrate across these siloes  and share  actionable insights, which have been validated through science and lived experiences. I stumbled on a simple but powerful insight  that we can truly flourish simply by engaging in our three deepest human longings – Loving, Learning, and Playing in everything that we do.

-to spread religious literacy

In a world fractured by disagreement and defined by difference, we are constantly reminded of the things that tear us apart. Nowhere is this division more stark than in the study and practice of religion.

For too long, the dominant approach—in the classroom and in the cathedral—has been to present each major faith as a separate, distinct island. We focus endlessly on particularities, on the unique doctrines, and on the specific rituals that set one tradition apart from the others. This siloed approach has become the rule, and the inevitable result is an exclusivist mindset that fuels ignorance, suspicion, and, tragically, conflict.

I took classes on all religions at Harvard and wrote my first book “Bridges Across Humanity”  I deliberately  broke from the divisive norm. This book is an invitation to shift our gaze from the superficial differences to the profound, shared foundations of faith. Instead of presenting separate histories, this book takes one universal human theme at a time—from the meaning of compassion to the nature of the divine—and shows how that theme is reflected, in diverse but recognizable forms, in all religious traditions.

With religiously motivated conflicts and violence still so prevalent, the author’s hope is that this book will be a vital first step toward reconnecting humanity through the restorative, unifying potential of religion itself.

Bridges Across Humanity

Discovering unity through 54 common themes across world religions

A Message of Oneness and Unity

“Bridges Across Humanity” explores an amazing number of common themes—54 of them—across the world’s religions. This groundbreaking book is the culmination of five years of research undertaken with the help of Allen Simon, a Harvard Divinity School graduate.

In today’s world, which is torn apart by many divisive forces that play on our ignorance, this book offers a message of oneness, unity, and solidarity. While many wonderful books on world religions take a siloed approach, focusing on the particularities of each tradition, “Bridges Across Humanity” breaks from this pattern.

This book takes one theme at a time and shows how it is present across all religions, revealing the profound connections that unite humanity’s spiritual traditions.

The book features a foreword by Francis X. Clooney SJ, Parkman Professor of Divinity and Professor of Comparative Theology at Harvard Divinity School, and current president of the CTSA (Catholic Theological Society of America).

With religiously motivated conflicts and violence still being so prevalent in our world today, this book represents an important step toward reconnecting humanity through the restorative meaning-making potential of religion.
